What is bench.sh?
bench.sh is a VPS testing script developed by teddysun. The script uses UnixBench to perform tests that can assess the CPU performance, memory performance, disk I/O performance, and network bandwidth of a VPS. The script supports multiple Linux distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, Fedora, and more. It is an open-source script that is easy to use and can be found on Github.
How to use bench.sh?
Using bench.sh is straightforward. All you need to do is run the following command on your VPS:
wget -qO- bench.sh | bash
This command will download the bench.sh script and run the script to perform the tests. Once the test is complete, a detailed report will be generated that contains various information about the VPS performance. For example, it will show you the CPU model, the number of CPU cores, the memory size, the disk type and size, the network bandwidth, and more.
How to interpret the test report?
The test report is generated based on the results of the UnixBench tests. It will show you the scores of different tests and provide some explanation of each test.Here are the test results of my VULTR VPS that I tested using the bench.sh script. The script showed me the hardware and operating system information, tested the disk I/O performance, and measured the upload and download speeds as well as latency information to various nodes around the world.
